Scott Kluksdahl



The festival is pleased to welcome Mr. Kluksdahl back for a second season as a soloist and principal cellist with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. Known for his elegant, warm singing tone, robust virtuosity and insightful music making, he receives the highest praise from audiences and critics around the world. His recital of unaccompanied works by living composers at The Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in April 1994 inspired String Magazine to proclaim him "a simply superb cellist, playing with consummate technical ease, beautiful sound, total conviction, authority and dedication to the music." Mr. Kluksdahl was the recipient of Tanglewood's Leonard Bernstein Fellowship, as well as top prizes in the 1990 Walter W. Naumburg International Cello Competition and Washington International Competition. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and American literature from Harvard University and a master's degree in music from the Juilliard School. His teachers have included Joel Krosnick, Margaret Rowell, William Pleeth and Leonard Rose. He currently serves as Professor of Violincello at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
