Registration fee to paint

Anyone from professional artists to little DaVincis who feel that paper and pencils are not grand enough for a personal masterpiece is welcome in the “performance” experience. Side by side, artists will fill the pavement “canvases” with their own unique inspirations using special chalks. As space is limited, early registration is suggested to avoid disappointment.
Registration for artists participating in the Italian Street Painting may be made at Art and Clay on Main 150 W. Main Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Phone 740-653-1755. The painting starts on the morning of the 20th (around 9:00 a.m.).Artists should finish their work for viewing at during ARTWALK on the 23rd.

Cafe Concert #1 - "First Impressions"
WOSU’s Christopher Purdy hosts an afternoon of dazzling preludes and other musical openers. Performers include: Margaret Swinchoski, flute; Elizabeth Robertson, oboe; Leslie Nicholas, clarinet; Linda Morton Fisher, bassoon; Lauren Weaver, cello; and Judith Lynn Stillman, piano.

Downtown businesses transform into galleries for an evening to showcase the works of local and national artists. Food vendors, live music and street performer/living statue Mark Abbati complete the popular gallery hop event.

Arnett Howard & Friends: Thomas Big Hat Fields and his Foot Stompin Zydeco Band
Louisiana native and cowboy Thomas “Big Hat” Fields serves up a musical gumbo of original soul, blues, Cajun, swamp pop and zydeco. Thomas, a self-taught accordionist, is joined by central Ohio’s King of Creole, Arnett Howard, in a performance that features the alternating rhythms of the Foot Stompin’ Zydeco Band and the Creole Funk Band.

Central Ohio’s favorite trumpet player, Arnett Howard, has performed over 4,000 concerts. The community leader and educator is an official ambassador and musical historian for Columbus. He co-authored “Listen For the Jazz: Keynotes in Columbus History” and has recorded five compact discs.

Candlelight Concert - "Favorite Encores" featuring Olga Kern and the Veronika String Quartet
The Veronika String Quartet formed in 1989 at the Gnesins’ Russian Academy of Music in Moscow and has received top prizes in international competitions held in Russia, Australia and the U.S. Their repertoire ranges from Haydn and Beethoven to 20th century works. Recent collaborations include performances with the Fine Arts Quartet; Martin Lovett; clarinetist Richard Stoltzman; and pianists James Tocco and Ruth Laredo. The quartet has been in residence at Colorado State University-Pueblo and the Pueblo Symphony since 1999. Quartet members include: Veronika Afanassieva, violin; Karine Garibova, violin; Ekaterina Dobrotvorskaia, viola: and Danielle Guideri, cello.

Van Cliburn Competition Award-winning pianist Olga Kern makes her Festival debut during an all-Russian program with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. In 2004, Ms. Kern made her highly acclaimed New York City recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s new venue, Zankel Hall. Internationally, she has toured throughout Europe, Russia and South Africa. Ms. Kern’s U.S. touring schedule includes recitals in New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Atlanta’s Spivey Hall, as well as engagements with symphony orchestras in Phoenix, Denver and Salt Lake City.
