Arnett Howard teaches middle and high school students how to turn their song ideas into finished pieces. 10,000 Maniacs and the Cathy Richardson Band
The folk-pop group 10,000 Maniacs formed in 1981 in Jamestown, N.Y. Their breakthrough second album, In My Tribe, stayed on the charts for 77 weeks and sold over one million copies. Their 1989 follow-up, Blind Man’s Zoo, hit number 13, went gold and featured hit singles Trouble Me and Eat for Two. Our Time in Eden, released in 1992, featured the hit These Are Days. Their greatest hits album, Campfire Songs, was released in 2004. The group includes: Oskar Saville, lead vocals; Jerome Augustyniak, drums, percussion and background vocals; Dennis Drew, keyboards; Steven Gustafson, bass guitar; Jeff Erickson, lead guitar and Mary Ramsey, vocals and electric violin.
Singer/songwriter Cathy Richardson received national acclaim for her portrayal of Janis Joplin in the original cast of the off-Broadway musical Love, Janis. The group performs a wide catalog of music with gospel, jazz, blues and American rock slam influences. They were voted Best Local Band in polls by the Chicago Tribune and Fox News Chicago. Her latest CD is titled Delusions of Grandeur. Last fall, Cathy made her national television debut as a regular guest on Jack’s Big Music Show on The Noggin Network.
