Season Highlights

Opening Night
All-Mozart
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth, the 2006 Festival opens with an exhilarating tribute to the incomparable genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Special guest artists include the Lancaster Chorale, Opera Columbus competition winner Laura Smith and bass-baritone Bryan Glenn Davis. Maestro Gary Sheldon conducts the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. Superb musicians from the Orchestra, including concertmaster Michael Davis, principal violist Paul Ehrlich, principal flutist Margaret Swinchoski, and principal harpist Anastasia Jellison are featured soloists in two beloved concertos. A most inspirational evening of music making awaits!

The acclaimed Generation Gap Trio performs Mozart’s sublime chamber music side-by-side with the beautiful compositions of two of his greatest influences.

The Pointer Sisters
For more than 30 years, the Pointer Sisters have enthralled audiences with their timeless mix of Motown, rhythm and blues, and rock ‘n’ roll. Don’t miss the sassy trio as they perform many of their high-energy Top 10 hits including “Fire,” “Jump (for my love),” and “Neutron Dance” from the hit film “Beverly Hills Cop.” The group is joined by conductor Gary Sheldon and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display.

10,000 Maniacs
The folk-pop group 10,000 Maniacs brings their high-energy greatest hits show to the 2006 Festival. The band performs their chart-topping hits including “Don’t Talk,” “Trouble Me,” and “These Are Days.” The Cathy Richardson Band opens the evening with their soulful blend of jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll.

Seasons Greetings
Tis’ the season for the most famous concerto ever composed – Vivaldi’s dazzling Four Seasons. Four fantastic violinists with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra, including Michael Davis, Veronika Affanasieva, Dmitri Pogorelov and 2006 Wilkes Fellow Swathi Padmanabhan, are featured soloists for each season.

with Peter Cetera

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Peter Cetera, has succeeded with two profound musical careers. As a distinguished solo artist since 1986, his notable hits have included the #1 Single and Academy Award Nominated song “The Glory of Love” from the hit movie “The Karate Kid II”, “The Next Time I Fall” with Amy Grant, “Feels Like Heaven” with Chaka Khan, “Restless Heart”, “After All” with Cher, from the motion picture “Chances Are”, and “No Explanation”from the mega hit film, “Pretty Woman”.

Prior to his prominent solo career, he was the legendary voice, songwriter, & bass player for the Multi-Platinum group, Chicago. His world wide success with the Grammy Award winning band , include the hits “If You Leave Me Now”, “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”, “Baby What a Big Surprise”, “You’re the Inspiration”, “Stay the Night”, “Love Me Tomorrow”, “Happy Man”, “Hard Habit to Break”, “Feeling Stronger Every Day”, & “Along Comes a Woman”.

Maestro Gary Sheldon and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra join Mr. Cetera for the stunning final performance. A fireworks finale concludes the 2006 Festival. .
