Maestro Sheldon and a special guest performer visit local elementary schools each spring.
The 2004 visits took place in May with very special guest artist Robert Post. Post will be appearing at the 2004 Festival in
the Young Peoples Concert (7/25) and in "The POSTman Delivers" (7/26)

“Our visits to the area schools each year are always special. The children and their teachers enjoy meeting
the guest artists and musicians who perform at the Lancaster festival. We also take the opportunity to introduce
the students to elements of classical music and the symphony orchestra. And it’s always great to see many of the

El Arranque Performance - 2004

El Arranque performs for the entire school in the St. Mary gymnasium |
In November, 2004, The Lancaster Festival partnered with The Ohio Arts Council to present El Arranque,
an Argentinian Tango Orchestra. The group performed for the public on November 1 at Faith Memorial Church in Lancaster.
On November 2, El Arranque spent the morning at St. Mary School. They were very enthusiastically received by the
assembled students and faculty.

The group then visited the classroom, where they spoke to the 7th grade music class. El Arranque members answered questions,
demonstrated their instruments, and even gave a few quick lessons.

In answer to the question, 'Do you play any other music besides tango music, the group performed an unrehearsed version of
'It's a Wonderful World', which they found in the class's music books.
